Andrew Wyeth: Drawings and Watercolors

I have the privilege of presenting this exhibition of drawings and watercolors by the renowned American artist, Andrew Wyeth, whose remarkable career commenced before WWII and continued into the first decade of the 21st century. This exhibition will be Boston’s first since the Museum of Fine Arts exhibited The Helga Pictures (1987-1988), after it’s comprehensive presentation in 1970, titled Andrew Wyeth. Our exhibition also marks the first commercial monographic showing of his work in Boston since the artist exhibited here as a young man at the venerable Doll and Richards Gallery in the 1940s and 1950s. We have selected thirteen drawings and thirteen watercolors that span five decades of the artist’s career. The subjects range from figure studies, including his most-famous model, Helga, to architecture, landscapes and still lives. Each work breathes its own character and gives insight into one of the most brilliant artistic minds of the 20th century. Many of the pieces have never been exhibited publicly until now. I hope you enjoy seeing the works as much as I have enjoyed selecting them.
